Our button maker kits include pinback button sets and a variety other products to help people get started making buttons. Unfortunately substitutions are not available, but for good reason. If you would rather make refrigerator magnets or some other item, your best option is to keep the pinbacks for practice or trying out new designs instead of wasting higher price components. Test everything on pinbacks first, because they are so inexpensive. Once you have a design perfected, then make the items you want like magnets, mirrors, key chains, bottle openers, etc.
Can I use card stock to make a button?
All of our button machines will work spectacularly with regular printer paper. Larger size machines can accept photo paper as well, but card stock is much too thick. We do have Fabric button makers but using card stock in any button maker is definitely a no-no.Do I need software to design a button?
Unless you're using pre-made designs or fabric, you will need some type of graphic design software. Here is a link that will tell you more about free button making software and also some that is available for purchase. The dimensions needed to successfully make a button design are very specific. Our Build-a-Button software takes all the guesswork out of designing a button.
