How to Change the Cutting Wheel on a Circle Cutter
Changing the blade on your Button Making Adjustable Rotary Circle Cutter is very simple to do! We have put together this step-by-step blade changing tutorial to guide you through the process.
Step 1: Familiarize yourself with the parts of the Circle Cutter. |
Step 2: Remove the plastic Centering Template from the Circle Cutter. |
Step 2 Continued: This is what the the circle cutter looks like with the plastic Centering Template removed. |
Step 3: Remove the Quick release thumbwheel and turn the circle cutter upside down. |
Step 4: Remove the extension tube, spring and detent ball from the crankshaft base. |
Step 5: Still holding the unit upside down, compress the top and bottom together. |
Step 6: While compressing, pull the cutting shaft out and set the unit aside. |
Step 7: Place the tip of a small flat head screwdriver between the open space of the E-clip and the cutting shaft & gently pry the E-clip from the Cutting Wheel. Remove the cutting wheel from the cutting shaft. |

Step 8: Place the new cutting wheel on the cutting shaft. Using a pair of needle-nose pliers, squeeze the E-clip back into place. |
To reassemble your Circle Cutter, simply reverse the process.
Step 9: Press the top and bottom together and slide the cutting shaft back into place. Make sure the cutting shaft detents are facing the top of the circle cutter. | Step 10: Reinsert the detent ball, spring and extension tube; tighten the Quick release thumbwheel; replace the plastic cutting template. |
